RAF MkVIII Goggles. WWII
Here we have an early pair of MkVIII goggles with the multiple vent holes, instead of the single raised stamped out vents.
Apart from the paint loss to the frames(see Photo's) the goggles are in very good order, with no issues to the leather & Chamois cushions.
Goggle strap still retains some elasticity, and both pull tabs are in place, the A.M. stamp is there on the bridge, Faintly! but a little difficult to capture in a photo.
A name tag is attached to the goggle strap 'Ralph'
And i googled the surname.
P/O James William Ralph RAFVR 115 Sqdn.
only three came up, and given when the MkVIII's came into service he is the most likely. Given that Ralph is his Surname & not His christian name of course!.
Still in all a rare set of early type MkVIII's which don't turn up quite as often as the later ones.
