USAF HGU-2A/P Helmet & MBU-5/P Oxygen Mask
USAF HGU Helmet, with "Ramshorn" double visor fitting, and MBU-5/P oxygen mask.
Helmet is in good/very good overall condition, with no damage to the shell, paint finish is good, with usual small knocks & chips.
Fitted with "Ramshorn" double visor's clear/ grey, both visors are in excellent condition, with no damage.
The visor housing, has been covered in chamois leather, to prevent scratching the canopy, during "G" manoeuvre's. A McDonnell Phantom II Decal has been applied to the rear of the shell, and does have some damage/chipping to the finish, but does not detract.
A pair of H-154/AIC. have been fitted, they are easily identifiable by spring-loaded metal mounting arms. both receiver housings are complete, and in excellent condition, with all wiring intact.
The "Fitting Pads" have been removed from the inner shell, so just leaving the polystyrene insert, but of course, when displayed, is not noticeable, and does not detract, and if desired, the fitting pads are available on line, to purchase.
The MBU-5/P oxygen mask, is in excellent condition, with no issues, and dated 85/86/87 and manufactured by Scott, and is a size Regular-Narrow. Tube is in excellent order, has the early Sierra CRU-8/P oxygen connector fitted. and all wiring is complete.
Excellent USAF set up.
The HGU-2A/P was issued around 1961 as an improved version of the HGU-2/P. The HGU-2A/P nomenclature (USAF way of indicating an upgrade to the HGU-2/P is with the "A") was assigned 2 Nov 1960 as the result of design changes documented by both SAC (Form 81 16 Nov 1959) and TAC (Form 81 28 Oct 1959). The first HGU-2A/P military specification MIL-H-26671A was issued 16 March 1961.
