RAF "F" Type Flying Helmet & A-13A Oxygen Mask. Mk. V111 Goggles
"F" Flying Helmet 1954 dated.
Similar to the later Type G inner helmet, the Type F is actually quite different and rare by comparison. Made and issued only from 1954-55, it was the first helmet designed for use either alone or under the hard shell crash helmet (Mk I). Made from blue Airtex fabric, it has a different internal neck strap to the later G, and stud/snaps only for the WWII generation of oxygen masks. A size 2.1954 dated in excellent condition complete with all communications, correct receivers in large padded leather housings with wiring loom and NATO style plug.
The A-13A oxygen mask is in excellent condition, rubber remains soft and flexible, And retains it's label. the hose again is in excellent condition, with no issues, and is fitted with the early oxygen connector. And also has the Bail out bottle hose fitted, again a rare piece!
The mask is a size Small.#
It was worn at first with the Type C and C* helmet, then later with the Types F, G and Mk I and 1a bone dome - and displays well with all. The post war RAF being a much smaller force than in wartime, this is quite a scarce mask.
A very good pair of Mkv111 Goggles, completes the set up, goggles are in excellent used condition, leather face pad is free of any damage, and the inner suede padding is in very good condition.
The lenses have some delamination in places, and L/hand lens has a small crack near the top, other than that, no other issues.
Excellent early "Jet" set up for the F86's etc bought from the U.S. in the early 50's
Price includes postage to mainland U.K. only.
Head is not included in the sale.
