Early pre-war American flying cap, By Polaroid (see vintage flying helmets. Mick J. Prodger. page 190) with flip down sun-shield, cap is in very good condition, constructed of four cotton panel sections, with rayon trimming, tan coloured, with green cotton underside to the peak, main body is in excellent condition, with just the usual hand/finger marks to the underside of the peak, the sweatband has suffered somewhat over the years, and has cracked in a number of places, but is still firmly attached, and when displayed is undetectable.

The "flip down" sun-shield" is in excellent condition, lens has some light scratching, but does not detract, attached to the peak with two steel hinges, which in turn are riveted to the lens. only ever seen this type of cap in books, and would have probably have been favoured in the Pacific theatre, by Catalina/ PB4Y Privateer crews etc.
Rare Cap in very good condition.
