A-10-A Summer Flying Helmet

A-10-A U.S. Air Force Summer helmet, helmet is in almost mint untouched condition, and apart from one small area, under the peak where the chamois leather facing has come away in one small area, other than that, it is in almost unused condition, even the "Y" loom has no wear to it, fitted with a pair of ANB-H-1 receivers. with PL-354 plug.
The A-10-A differed from the A-10 in the leather used for the chin strap, and rear retaining straps were replaced with fabric, and the snaps were threaded so as to enable the mask snaps and oxygen mask hook to be bolted into place.
The A-10A's officially replaced the AN-H-15 for the U.S. Air Force in 1945.
The helmet was made by Bates Shoe Company in 1945. Excellent Helmet, that would be very difficult to upgrade.
The improved A-10A summer flying helmet was a "last hurrah" for the Army Air Forces. Introduced in 1945 and featuring minor modifications over the A-10, it was the last flying helmet independently procured by the Army Air Forces and examples of this scarce helmet are missing from many collections.
